BT - Con artists

On the 19th Feb I switched from BT to Sky for my phone. Got my final bill today with a £24.31 cancellation charge as I cancelled during my contract which BT now renew every year. I phoned BT and told them as far as I was concerned when BT altered the free charge time from 6pm to 7pm they had broken the contract so I shouldn't pay. BT guy insisted I pay. I asked if I could charge BT for breaking their contract. 'It doesn't work like that sir, you have to pay the cancellation charge' said the guy. This went on for about 5 mins with BT guy insisting I paid the £24.31 I then brought up the article on the BBC web site where BT had stated that no one would be charged if they moved from BT due to the 6pm to 7pm change. 'Hang on a minute sir' came the reply. A minute of two later the guy came back and told me the charge would be removed from my bill immediately and altered my account while I was on the phone.

I wonder how many people have paid the charge without complaining!

When I canceled with BT I 'told' them there was no cancelation fee as the contract was over 12 months old. They then sent me a 'worry' letter explaining how bad things could be if they didn't provide my phone!
Yeah right, my bill has dropped at least £40 a month 'and' I get broadband.
BT=Biggest Tossers.

You must have left a while ago as all customers are now on a contract that's renewed every year. I was with BT for over 20 years but due to the now annual contract I was still within the contract period!

Unless the original contract specified that then you can't make a contract retrospective.
They are trying it on!
They know how many customers they are going to lose so they try one last 'sting' on you.
Nice!
